General Info

ASAIO has approximately 800 Members. The Membership is a unique group of specialists from 30 different countries with diversified backgrounds in artificial organ technology. These individuals represent government, universities, industry, private hospitals and independent research groups. The areas of Nephrology, Biomaterials and Cardiopulmonary devices are heavily represented as well as numerous other specialized interests.

ASAIO takes pride in its presentation of an Annual Conference, which draws up to 700 attendees with a broad range of primary interests. This Conference includes presentations from up to 400 speakers from more than a dozen countries. This Conference is truly unique in that it provides a forum for individual researchers to present not only to fellow investigators, but also to members of industry and to government representatives who will be involved in regulatory affairs as the projects are developed into the production of clinical devices. This Conference provides continuing education for accreditation for CME, CCP, and CNE.

Through the support of dedicated individuals and numerous industrial members, ASAIO provides fellowships for many young investigators to assist them with the financial means to participate in the Annual Conference. These include ASAIO Fellowships sponsored by industry, the ASAIO Y. Nose International Fellowship, the ASAIO Paul S. Malchesky Student Fellowships and the ASAIO Young Innovator Fellowships sponsored by Lippincott Wilkins & Williams.
ASAIO has a peer review Journal - ASAIO Journal - that is published six times per year. The March/April Issue contains submitted Abstracts for the Annual Conference.  The other five issues contain peer-reviewed articles.

ASAIO has ties to Industry to ensure that your voice is heard on Capital Hill. ASAIO welcomes industry at the Annual Conference through an exhibit program where companies have the opportunity to discuss their products with ASAIO Members.

Membership Applications are welcome from individuals who have an interest in Artificial Organs. Membership entitles you to bimonthly ASAIO Journal Issues, reduced Annual Conference Registration Fee, and Accreditation for Annual Conference Participation. Membership also gives you the opportunity to submit Abstracts for publication and be considered to present at the Annual Conference.
